Rising to the Occasion
This Tribute Concert has sparked something really special in the hearts of many people and organisations in our community . There’s a palpable spirit of goodwill and cooperation with groups wanting to do there bit to pay just tribute to Gerry and make this event a great success for everyone.
Freshford Town Soccer Club – a club very close to Gerry’s heart – will also play a major role in this Tribute Concert. The Freshford.ie Team – yet another organisation that Gerry was actively involved in and strongly supported, is taking time out from its busy work schedule on the Freshford Action Plan publication to help out with the show.
The Freshford Playground Group who are working so hard to get a playground up and running for the families and children of Freshford, are also helping out on the night. (What a pity that this invaluable project appears to be deadlocked at the moment!. How can we all help to get it moving again? )
Freshford Tidy Towns whose committed team do remarkable work making and keeping Freshford a beautiful place to live in, will also assist us in helping to make St Lachtain’s Church look even more beautiful on the night.
The Kilkenny Branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association who work so hard to improve the lives of so many wheelchair-bound people in our community have also come on board to assist us with preparations and treats for the performers, helpers, traffic management teams.
These groups are all the unsung heroes in our community who make Freshford a better place to live, to work , socialise and rear a family. On behalf of The Acorn Club, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. Gerry would be proud! But don’t forget – We are here to help and support you too!
A Special Programme is also being printed to mark this unique occasion. It will be available free of charge at the door to everyone attending the show.
